What’s Hottest on the Travel Agenda for 2014?

Here at Aqua Expeditions, we like to stay on top of the latest travel trends, to make sure that we are offering our guests a truly unforgettable experience. Here are three of the top travel trends for the year ahead:

Destination Hotspot: South America

South America proudly takes the lead as one of the most popular destinations of the year with this summer’s World Cup and the Olympics in 2016 taking centre stage in Brazil. We are already seeing visitors extending their stays with stops in neighbouring South American countries, and tour operators are pulling out all the stops to showcase the broader region at its very best. Great news for our Amazon vessels…

“Travel to Eat”

Secondly, Condé Nast Traveller UK is predicting that ‘more people will travel to eat’, in 2014. People are flying to San Sebastien, Spain for its 16 Michelin stars, and our very own Lima for a taste of its culinary expertise. It’s South America’s gastronomic capital, with Peruvian cuisine making waves in cities around the world, gaining the recognition it deserves and putting our own Amazon executive chef, Pedro Miguel firmly on the map. Taking cuisine one step further, we are pushing the boundaries even further to help guests experience authentic regional cuisine – a top priority for travellers in the coming year. Our guests want to take an active interest in local food, visiting food markets with our chef, or learning local recipes.

Vietnamese Cuisine

Vietnamese cuisine is also set to be a global culinary trend for 2014, building on the recent popularity of Japanese, Sichuan and Korean food. Hooray – another winning combination for Aqua Expeditions! With the traveller’s growing appetite for a gastronomic experience, we are very excited to soon announce the name of the Executive Chef onboard out new vessel, Aqua Mekong – so for all you foodies, stay tuned. The New Year is shaping up to be full of excitement!
